New Balance has found, arguably, their most influential partner in the last few years with Aime Leon Dore. As the NYC-based fashion label founded by Teddy Santis continues to push forward in the industry, it has also lent its hand in curation for the Boston-based footwear giant as it helped revive the now-popular New Balance 550 and 650 silhouettes. With the former of the two being the duo's most iconic collaboration, multiple new colorways have popped up throughout the year, though now ALD has officially unveiled the next drop, coming in "Grey Ivory" and "White Ivory."
With detailed looks already given on the "Grey Ivory" pair, the "White Ivory" appeared seemingly out of nowhere, opting for a similar color scheme with slight tweaks to the material. While the grey variation comes in a mostly all-suede construction throughout its overlays, the white version gets the leather treatment while featuring the same ALD and NB co-branding details on the tongue, heel, and insole. Exclusive to the "Grey Ivory" colorway, navy blue shades land on the aforementioned logo on the tongue while the “N” logo along the midfoot gets trimmed in a similar blue shade. Cream colors appear on the base layer, visible on the toe and collar portions while this hue continues onto the lacing system. Underfoot, both pairs feature a vintage cream 550 midsole. Rounding out the design is the rubber outsole that comes in a slightly different cream shade on the grey pair while the white gets a lighter shade of cream compared to the midsole above.
The Aime Leon Dore x New Balance P550 Grey Ivory and White Ivory are set to release on October 31st, 2022 through a raffle on Aime Leon Dore’s website, though those on their mailing list may receive early access to the raffle. Releasing in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $130.
