Space Jam 2 was a terrible movie for countless reasons, but one of the biggest misses was the replacement of the Monstars with a team called the Goon Squad that used NBA and WNBA players as the base, but picked second-tier stars like Dame Lillard and Klay Thompson. If we were a team of aliens assembling a list of Monstars to defeat LeBron today, we’d return to the OG magic ball version and steal talent from the likes of Wemby, Shai, Steph, Jokic, and Cade. Luckily, Jordan Brand’s Space Jam anniversary collection is bringing the OG magic ball back to the court.

The Air Jordan 11 Retro Space Jam Magic Ball is the third pair of Air Jordan 11s from the Jumpman’s 30th anniversary celebration for Michael Jordan’s Oscar snub, joining the OG Space Jam 11s and a new pair in monochrome green paying tribute to the green screen actors who made the Monstars possible. On the latest pair, a shimmering gold iridescent replicates the alien’s magic ball that captures NBA talent to create the Monstars.
We’ve only seen the Magic Ball colorway in product images showing off the upcoming Space Jam x Jordan clothing collection, but from what we can see, the magical gold upper is mixed with an icy blue outsole and black details on the laces and midsole. If we had to guess, there’s likely a Space Jam 30th Anniversary Jordan logo on the insoles, too.
