The Air Jordan 11 Retro Green Screen Brings Space Jam Back to Life

This year marks the 30th anniversary of Michael Jordan’s crowning cinematic achievement, Space Jam. For millennials with young children, and some without, that’s like Christmas and a birthday all wrapped into one. At Jordan Brand, the Jumpman is pulling out all the stops for the Toon Squad, including a new pair designed with the OG Monstar actors in mind.

Monstar Mayhem

The Air Jordan 11 Retro Green Screen is one of the coolest tribute pairs we’ve seen in years, covering the entire Jordan 11 silhouette in the same shade of green used on the Space Jam set to digitally transform regular actors into super-powered Monstars. While Mike’s moves were (mostly) real, the animated Monstars needed actors in green suits against green-screen backgrounds to set the stage for animators.

Featuring soft green nubuck on the wavy toebox, side panels, and heel, the lace panel keeps the same color for continuity, but switches to a rougher-textured fabric. The rest of the colorway stays consistent in Kermit’s skin tone, with a hit of white on the Jordan logo in the middle of the tongue.
