Japanese sneaker brand Asics has taken the sneaker industry by storm over the past few years. But before mesh runners became the best-selling shoes at boutiques across the globe, the Asics Gel-Lyte III captured the hearts of sneakerheads, with its split tongue and limited releases distinguishing real connoisseurs from hype chasers. The Gel-Lyte III is finding its own resurgence amidst the new Asics wave, with collabs from the likes of Kith and now, influence on a new pair of Gel-Nimbus 10.1.
In partnership with Taiwanese sneaker boutique Invincible, this exclusive Gel-Nimbus 10.1 is full of references, taking its colorway directly from the original Gel-Lyte III, marking the store’s 10th anniversary, and serving as a sequel to an Invincible x Asics collab from earlier this year. A third Invincible Gel-Nimbus 10.1 inspired by the 404 computer error code, the RGB colorway goes mismatched grey, taking its tone from the OG Gel-Lyte III while switching materials up, adding a hairy suede on the toe and heel of the left shoe, with smooth leather on the right. The left and right shoes alternate red and blue accents on the tongue and heel labels, but both shoes include side panel logos that stretch onto the midsole, with fraying fabrics at every end.
