Air Jordan 13 Release Dates

Originally released in 1997, the Air Jordan 13 was the final signature sneaker released during Michael Jordan's time with the Chicago Bulls. Inspired by Michael Jordan’s cat-like playing style, the infamous panther, aka “Black Cat” was the primary muse for this silhouette.

In 1997 the Air Jordan 13 made its debut. It was the first Air Jordan model to retail for $150. Inspired by MJ’s “Black Cat” persona, the AJ 13 features a holographic eye on the collar, paw-shaped outsole, Zoom Air cushioning, and a carbon fiber plate. The “Flint” and “Bred” colorways featured 3M reflective detailing on the upper, while the “He Got Game,” “Chicago” and “Playoff” pairs were all leather-based. For the Air Jordan 13 Low, the “Navy” pair sported a 3M upper, while the “Chutney” pair came in suede.

The Air Jordan 13 was initially released in five colorways: He Got Game, Chicago, Flint, Playoff, and Bred. Two low-top iterations followed as well: Navy and Chutney. Jordan rocked the AJ 13 on-court for the entire 1997-98 NBA season en route to his sixth and final NBA championship with the Chicago Bulls and second 3-Peat.

Since 2003, we have seen the Air Jordan 13 Retro in various OG and new colorways, which we still see today. Collaborators, including SoleFly, Doernbecher, and CLOT, have all been fortunate enough to design their own exclusive AJ 13. Some of them made it to retail, while others did not. Some new colorways have even ranked up there next to the OG’s, such as the Wheat, Ray Allen, Bin23, and Dirty Bred. Almost thirty years later, the AJ 13 is still as iconic as ever.

Originally retailing for $150, the Air Jordan 13's retail price has increased through the years and now has a sticker price of $200 for men, $150 for GS, $90 for PS, and $75 for TD. Retail also increases depending on the colorway/release, occasionally up to $275. Find all the Jordan 13's past and present on Sole Retriever today!
