NBA Summer League didn’t used to be such an event. The pre-season to the pre-season brings out rookies and second-year bench-warmers to help coaches whittle down rosters and help lesser-known players show off their skills, and for most of its existence, attendance was sparse to say the least. At some point in the near past, Vegas Summer League erupted like a dormant volcano, bringing out NBA stars and celebs courtside to the casino, creating a mid-summer spectacle full of parties, gambling, and also some basketball.
Summer League’s Star Power
This year, the Summer League fun is extending all the way into August, with StockX and the NBA taking an immediate look back at the year’s youth hoop stars, auctioning off a heavy run of memorabilia from sneakers to jerseys and duffel bags. All of the gear is autographed and comes with a letter of authentication from Summer League Co-Founder Albert Hall.
