Bringing back the Oregon footwear company’s long-forgotten superhero.
Back in 1996, Nike introduced Swoosh Man. Originally meant to be the Beaverton brand’s superhero mascot, he was created by the marketing team’s experimental division. Usually paraded alongside the footwear giant’s star athletes, Swoosh Man’s suit infamously cost around $125,000 to make! While the character has long been forgotten, the Nike Air Kukini "Mighty Swooshers" is hoping to bring him back in style!
Taking on the Air Kukini silhouette which was revived earlier this year, this sneaker is part of the “Might Swooshers” Collection. Done up completely in “Metallic Silver," the upper is crafted from a flexible mesh textile that’s as breathable as it gets. The TPU midfoot cage wraps around the entire shoe in a robotic fashion, while shimmering leather panels hit the toe box and heel. Illustrations of Swoosh Man surround the entire upper, and down below, the Air midsole is dipped in all-black. This is then finalized with a black and icy blue rubber outsole, and comic book-inspired typography printed on the insoles.
The Nike Air Kukini Mighty Swooshers is set to release in 2022. It will drop at Nike, via the SNKRS app, and at select retailers worldwide, both online and in-store. Coming in men's sizing, retail is set at $130. Keep it locked to our Twitter and Mobile App to stay up to date on future releases.
