Jordan Brand Pushing For More Women’s Exclusive Releases

Updated on Published

Once Jordan Brand became its very own entity in 1998, the label celebrated with the brand's first-ever women’s exclusive model, the Air Jordan OG. This silhouette took inspiration from the AJ 13 and its wavy-like design. Since then, we’ve not only seen the introduction of models that exclusively release in women’s sizing but standard Air Jordan retro releases that are sized specifically for women. If you've had any questions regarding wom

Why is Jordan Brand Making More Women's Exclusive Sneakers?

Jordan Brand is leaning into its women's line. In 2022 alone, Jordan's Air Jordan contained more than a dozen women’s exclusive Jordan retros and 2023 will continue this as a part of Nike’s “Future 50 For Her.” This initiative has led to not only more women’s exclusive sneakers but women designers leading the charge for various projects across Jordan Brand and Nike as a whole. So far in 2023, only two releases offered in women’s sizing are expected to launch in extended sizes, the Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1 Low OG “Olive” and the Air Jordan 1 High OG “Laney,” while the rest will only go up to a 10.5M/12W. As we see more of these women's exclusive releases, sneakers that come in extended sizes will become less common than we are used to seeing from JB.

Will Women's Releases From Jordan Brand Come In Extended Sizing?

Expect to see more and more pairs be offered in women’s sizing only going forward due to the previously mentioned “Future 50 For Her” initiative, however, those with feet bigger than a size 10.5M will be forced to skip out on a decent amount of releases. This is due to the fact that Jordan Brand is not producing an extended size range for most women's exclusive releases.

How Much Are Women's Jordans?

Women's Jordan sneakers are typically priced at the same price point as a standard pair that comes in men's sizing. Some releases that offer special materials, collaborations, or have unique details that warrant a price increase may retail for slightly higher than your typical release. For example, the Air Jordan 3 "Lucky Green" is priced at $200 which is typically what you see from an inline GR Air Jordan 3.

How Do Women's Jordan Sneakers Fit?

If you're normally buying in men's sizes, the conversion from women's to men's is 1.5 sizes smaller. For example, a 12W is a 10.5M. While you may think its just a matter of stopping production at a certain size and labeling the sneakers for women, most if not all women's releases will ran a tad more narrow than your standard men's or unisex pair.
