This Air Jordan 40 is Exclusive to Nike EYBL Attendees
Published
Forty years of Air Jordan sneakers have culminated in the Air Jordan 40, arguably the best numerical Air Jordan in over a decade. Public reception to the model has been overwhelmingly positive, with The Classic colorway selling out instantly and online chatter via social media praising the comfort, design, and fashion-forward aesthetic. While we’re still waiting on the release of the Blue Suede and Dusty Rose color schemes, attendees of Nike’s Elite Youth Basketball League (EYBL) have received a special colorway of the Air Jordan 40.
This Air Jordan 40 PE essentially takes The Classic colorway and throws a few updates onto the design for Nike EYBL. The same premium leather upper in white and cream is present, with all the nods to previous Air Jordans still in place. Included in this homage are references to the Air Jordan 5 (the tongue) and Air Jordan 13 (reflective elements) on the front half of the upper.
The EYBL logo is embroidered in a grape purple hue on the left shoe, though the Jumpman logo remains on the right. The purple shade is also applied to the Nike Air heel clip, which is inspired by the Air Jordan 3, while the number 40 is debossed onto the spine of the internal heel counter. Final details include a burgundy tongue lining, a semi-translucent midsole with full-length ZoomX foam and Zoom Strobel, and a white, semi-translucent, and black outsole featuring a purple Jumpman on the toe.
The Air Jordan 40 EYBL PE will not be released to the public. Only select attendees and friends-and-family of Nike EYBL have access to the pair.
