Whenever Kanye West, who now goes by Ye, has a new album on the way, he typically hits social media with rants and promotion of new merch. Ye began posting about Bully, his upcoming album, again on his Instagram, promoted his new clothing drop, and updated the Yeezy website. In typical fashion, he ranted about his former partner in footwear, adidas, upset that his new Yeezy website was not being promoted above the German sportswear brand’s website even with the partnership being over for two years.
All these eyes of Ye have led him to drop his second-ever independent footwear release since leaving adidas — the Yeezy SLPR. Soon after this teaser of a single all-black colorway, Ye posted an image featuring a Cream and Grey rendition of the SL-01 SLPR.
On the site, the SLPR, a Yeezy-fication of the word slipper, is decidedly different from his first independent release, the Yeezy Pod sock shoe. Unlike the predecessor, this new model takes on a low-cut design that appears to be a one-piece EVA injection molded slipper, indicated by the small circular cutout near the toe of the outsole. Famously, Ye helped popularize this footwear design with the adidas Yeezy Slide and adidas Yeezy Foam RNNR.

There is no avant-garde or organic look to the slipper when comparing it to his previous work with adidas; it's just that — a slipper. Since separating from partners like adidas, Gap, and much of the fashion industry, he has adopted a minimalist approach to his designs. He is now famously selling everything for just $20. The entire upper is made of smooth foam with an opening to slip in your foot, and the outsole comes with a grooved design not far off from his adidas Yeezy Slide.
Ye's Yeezy SLPR is available to purchase on yeezy.com for just $20. According to the order confirmation email, the slippers will ship in around 3-5 weeks, though take this with a grain of salt. When the Yeezy Pods were first released, some had to wait over 3 months when told it wouldn't be longer than 3 weeks.
As for sizing, Yeezy again has made an odd choice. Instead of the 1, 2, or 3 sizing from the Pods, the brand has offered actual shoe sizes — but only even sizes. You can choose from 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, or 16. Download the Sole Retriever mobile app to stay updated on the latest happenings in the sneaker and streetwear world.
