Vans is the original skate shoe brand, and with that kind of industry clout comes a lot of artistic expectations. Luckily, though, the SoCal footwear label has always been a platform for up-and-coming artists to get their work seen by the masses, collaborating with skaters, musicians, photographers, painters, and visual artists of all kinds over its decades of success.
The Bad Idea by Chito x Vans Half Cab 33 is the latest expression of creative freedom from the Vans team, partnering with artist Wreckpack under fellow artist Chito’s Bad Ideas collective. Keeping up Chito’s love for all things airbrush, the collab with Wreckpack and Vans brings all-over print skulls to the Steve Caballero signature model in loud gradient colors.
Starting from the ground up, the pair paints every part of the Half Cab 33, including the black midsole with a purple stripe pattern intersecting like tiger stripes around the vulc sole and onto the foxing tape in black and orange. The upper starts with orange on the bottom and evolves into emerald green, with skull graphics drawn by Wreckpack turning the pair into a haunted house. More skull graphics pop on the tri-color clear outsole, with collab branding on the tongue tag and insoles.
The Bad Idea by Chito x Vans Half Cab 33 will be released October 29, 2026, through Vans and select retailers in-store and online. Available in unisex sizing, the retail price is set at $150. To keep up with all the latest Vans collab news and drop info, download the Sole Retriever App.
