Last year, Puma announced that it had struck a deal with designer Salehe Bembury, who has gone on to design Tyrese Haliburton’s first signature sneaker. Outside of his work with Puma Basketball, Bembury has also been teasing his take on a Puma running sneaker, which he first revealed in January. During Paris Fashion Week, Salehe is dropping his Puma Velum Nitro sneaker in a vibrant orange colorway.
The Velum name is perfect for the design and for Salehe's design language as a whole, as it's defined as "a membrane or membranous structure, typically covering another structure or partly obscuring an opening." A membrane-like fused overlay covers the engineered mesh base, while the Formstrip on the midfoot is done with a fingerprint-inspired design. Velum branding is placed front and center on the tongue tag alongside Puma text. Down below sits the membrane-inspired midsole, which features Nitro Foam cushioning throughout.
The Salehe Bembury x Puma Velum Nitro Orange will release on June 25, 2025, exclusively at a pop-up in Paris. As of now, pricing information has not been announced.
