Sometimes the bells and whistles can be a little too much. For most of us, the two to three miles at a time that we jog at a very reasonable pace don’t really require the same performance sneaker technology used by pro runners to push marathon records and clock paydays from their sponsors. At Puma, the Big Cat’s latest addition to the running line strips down the tech for an everyday racer built for everyday runners.
The Puma Deviate Pure Nitro goes light with a full stack of proprietary NITROFOAM but does without a PWRPLATE stability plate built into the midsole. Not only does the shoe trade rigidity for a little more cushion, but it reduces the weight of the shoe as well, scaling up at 220 grams, or 30 grams lighter than the version with a PWRPLATE inside.

“Deviate has been our leading franchise since Puma relaunched in road running,“ said Romain Girard, VP Innovation at Puma. “Our ambition with Deviate Pure NITRO™ was to make speed more accessible, but still retain the performance benefits that have made Deviate loved by runners across the globe. The result isn’t just a run, it’s an experience of natural speed.“
The Puma Deviate Pure Nitro will be released June 4, 2026 through Puma and select retailers in-store and online. Available in unisex sizing, the retail price is set at $150. For all the latest Puma Running news and drop info, download the Sole Retriever App.
