Nike made a huge step forward in sneaker tech this week, releasing a robotic shoe and a new series of mind-altering silhouettes out of its newly formed Sport Offense team, an innovation and design initiative that spans every corner of the Nike brand, encompassing Nike, Jordan, and Converse. The Mind 001 mule was the first shoe in the sensory-focused Mind line, and after showing off two early colorways, Beaverton is back with another pair in black.
The Nike Mind 001 Black takes the molded mule silhouette with puffy columns on the sides, a sleek upper, and a perforated forefoot cover, and dips it in all black. The bulky slide gets a hit of shine with metallic silver Swoosh logos on the midfoot panel and sitting vertically on the side panel. Like the rest of the Mind series, the shoe features a series of 22 orange nodes built into the sole.

The concept behind the Mind series is to redirect the wearer's focus to every step, creating a barefoot sensation when the nodes are pressed up into the foot and against the ground. Because the nodes can move in every direction, the sole of the shoe molds to whatever is beneath it, creating a unique sensory experience designed to trigger key areas of the brain.
The Nike Mind 001 Black will be released Spring 2026 through Nike and select retailers in-store and online. Available in unisex sizing, the retail price is set at $90. For all the latest news on Nike’s new Sports Offense innovations, make sure to download the Sole Retriever mobile app.
