The push to bring fashion brands into the sneaker industry as partners and collaborators at major sportswear brands has become a hallmark of the 21st century’s flattening and intermingling of luxury and casual looks. After linking with Asics a few years ago, Canadian fashion brand Aritzia is back with another major sneaker collab that speaks directly to the brand’s everyday luxury ethos.
The Aritzia x Nike LD-1000 is the first collab between the two brands. Decked out in a full coat of weathered brown leather like a 1940s football or a vintage armchair. The distinguished look features soft premium leather on the side panels and a texture change to suede on the toe, lace panel, and heel. Branding is minimal with Nike logos in monochrome dark brown on the tongue and heel, plus a beige mini Swoosh on the lateral toe. The only Aritizia branding comes from a four-leaf clover charm hanging from a top lace eyelet. To complete the earth tone look, a gum sole leaves a waffle print behind with every step.
An early running model designed as Nike’s first true long-distance silhouette (that’s what LD stands for), the LD-1000 is most famous as a case study in adaptation. Originally designed with a giant heel block built to push runners faster, the OG design instead led to injuries followed by a quick recall and redesign. What could have been a blemish on the brand instead turned into a prime example of how to listen and react to customer feedback, and has since turned into a legacy runner with a more traditional sole and plenty of retro cache.
The Aritzia x Nike LD-1000 will be released October 30, 2025 through Aritzia, Nike, and select retailers in-store and online. Available in unisex sizing, the retail price is set at $125.
