The Nike Kobe line is more popular than ever before, but while Beaverton brings a constant flow of Protro performance basketball shoes, lifestyle crossovers, and Mamba sponsorships across the sporting world, the brand has taken its time with a new Kobe silhouette, leaving Bryant’s legacy in the past instead of adding new numbered models every year past his playing days like Jordan.
After years of waiting, the Nike Kobe NXT Prototype is the latest addition to the Nike Kobe family, wrapped in a carbon fiber cage for next-level support and stability. First previewed by Sneaker Files, a mock-up of the debut pair shows a black wirey structure striking across a creamy off-white upper in a classic low-profile Kobe shape with an icy blue outsole underfoot.
Debuted in a piece of artwork by Troy Murray, the new silhouette is the last pair of shoes Kobe worked on with Nike designers before his untimely passing. In addition to the pricey NXT Prototype, a second new Kobe model, the Kobe NXT 1.0, is expected to drop next year, too.
The Nike Kobe NXT Prototype will be released Summer 2027 through Nike and select retailers in-store and online. Available in unisex sizing, the retail price is set at $410. For all the latest Nike Kobe news and drop info, download the Sole Retriever App.
