As Nike continues to dive into its own soccer history with a collection of street-ready Cryoshot tributes, Ronaldo’s iconic Mercurial Vapor 1 is already getting a second cycle, this time in a very familiar chrome colorway.

The Nike Cryoshot Mercurial Vapor 1 OG takes after the Mercurial Vapor 1 RGN, the 2002 cleat that kicked off the Mercurial Vapor line. Featuring a shiny metallic silver across the entire upper and the wave graphics on the side panels, the neon green accents pop on the heel stabilizer, sockliner, back of the tongue, and the encased set of cleats. We’ve seen the colorway return as a retro cleat recently, but this pair brings the icon back to the streets for fans, not just players.
“The chrome colorway with the neon green details makes such a perfect combo,” Soccer star Vini Jr. said about the colorway in 2024. “And of course, the little R9 on the tongue is a standout. That detail makes the boots feel so unique and special, like a tribute to greatness.” On the Cryoshot pair, the tongue logos are replaced by simple Swooshes, but the classic circled R9 is kept close on the back of the tongue.
