Nike's deep history in the running scene has helped inform modern-day designs, whether through performance footwear or lifestyle-oriented sneakers borrowing from the past. The latter rings true for the Air Max Waffle, a hybrid silhouette combining design features from the Air Max Plus and Waffle Racer, which was introduced in the latter part of 2024. While we only saw one release from the sneaker in 2025, two new colorways with updated construction are hitting shelves in June, including the Electrolime and Ceramic renditions.
Unlike the Action Green, Black, Hyper Blue, and Voltage Purple colorways, which featured a canvas base layer, this pair opts for a semi-transparent mesh. The base is rendered ceramic, while more orange hues are present on the suede mudguard, eyestays, and heel overlays, directly borrowed from the archival Waffle Racer. Contrasting the orange hues are hits of cream white on the leather Swoosh, heel tab, mesh tongue, lace set, and woven tongue label, the latter featuring classic black and orange Nike Air text.

Back on the heel tab sit two Nike branding details, one from the Waffle Racer (the white leather tab with black Nike text) and one from the Air Max Plus (the Tuned Air logo within the orange suede panel). The midsole and outsole combine features from both models, as the heel comes with the Tuned Air units from the Air Max Plus, and the forefoot comes with a waffle rubber sole from the Waffle Racer.
The Nike Air Max Waffle Ceramic will release on June 18, 2025, through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is $145.
