Shedeur Sanders has had a long and winding road to the starting quarterback spot on the Cleveland Browns’ depth chart. After falling in the draft further than anyone had ever expected, Sanders’ started his NFL career deep on the Browns’ bench, making headlines for his tendency to talk openly with the media instead of his play. Now, after injuries brought Sanders into the starting role and a debut victory, the spotlight is back on the Sanders son, and of course, his decision to debut retros of his famous father’s footwear.
Sanders stepped into the stadium for his first home start in Cleveland wearing a classic red and black pair of Nike Air Diamond Turf 2s, channeling his dad and introducing the world to the new retro of Deion’s second signature shoe. We first heard word of the Diamond Turf 2 return in the spring, but there’s no more fitting way for the shoe to make its real return than on Shadeur’s feet.
Staying true to the red, white, and black mix that dropped more than thirty years ago, the Diamond Turf 2 that Shedeur wore features an all-red upper interrupted by two white hits on the toebox and a blend of white and black surrounding the lace panel. The sole gets more black and white mixing, with red covering the prominent forefoot strap. Unfortunately for Shedeur and the Browns, the new shoes were the wrong color for the occasion and brought more luck to the visiting 49ers, who flew back to San Francisco with a win.
The Nike Air Diamond Turf 2 Retro Fire Red will be released Spring 2026 through Nike and select retailers in-store and online. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $170. For all the latest Nike Deion Sanders retro news, download the Sole Retriever mobile app.
