The Shedeur Sanders NFL experience is not going as planned. After capturing national attention under his dad’s coaching at the University of Colorado, Sanders’ pre-draft attitude and a constant stream of news and rumors pushed him back beyond anyone’s expectations to the fifth round, where he ended up as the 144th pick. After more drama about the depth chart in Cleveland, Sanders is now the Browns’ backup quarterback, but with no eye on a starting role anytime soon, that hasn’t swayed his confidence a bit.

In a new video posted on social media, Sanders is going through his sneaker closet, showing off endless pairs of his dad’s signature Nike colorways while talking to the cameraman about his collection. At one point, Shedeur takes a quick shot at Jordan, asking “Who gon’ wear Jordans again and your daddy got his own shoe?” before adding a surprising follow-up… “Mine coming soon.”

Now, to be fair, Sanders does say that last part with a bit of a smirk, suggesting he knows how far-fetched it is for a backup quarterback to get a signature shoe in an era when no NFL players have their own signature lifestyle silhouette, but still, c’mon, dude.

Shedeur is a Nike-sponsored athlete, so he’s definitely closer to a signature shoe than a lot of pro athletes by that fact alone, but when you haven’t started a single NFL game in your career, we’re gonna say that getting on the field should probably be a higher priority than designing a signature shoe. Maybe he’s just hinting at his own colorways of his dad’s shoes, but we’ll just have to wait and see. Hey, at least he’s got the superstar mentality.
