Nike has dug into the vault over the last two years, relaunching classics that have fallen to the wayside, like the Air 180. Recently, the Tinker Hatfield and Bruce Kilgore-designed model underwent a transformation in two different collaborative colorways with Apron Records. Still, the music industry is not done working on the sneaker. Now, Berlin-based electronic record label PAN Records is getting its version of the sneaker.
Considering that the Air 180 had its moment in the electronic music scene in the '90s, it's no surprise that PAN Records has been allowed to work on the model. The title for the collab, NIX, comes directly from the creative research studio PAN's founder Bill Kouligas established, with NIX translating to "nothing" in German, the opposite of PAN, which means "everything" in Greek. NIX branding is found along the tongue and insole, while the black-coated sneaker features a worn-in finish that mimics the patina created by wearing a sneaker night after night at the club.
