The Nike LeBron 23 Honor Society Takes Inspiration From the Wheat Air Zoom Generation

Early in his rookie season, after signing a groundbreaking $87 million contract straight out of high school, The Chosen One was so confident in his abilities that he famously told Nike that he could play in any shoe they picked, right down to a pair of construction boots. For the latest storytelling colorway of the Nike LeBron 23, The Swoosh is bringing us back to that early teenage boasting.

The Nike LeBron 23 Honor Society is designed like the Nike Air Zoom Generation’s construction boot-inspired Wheat colorway from LeBron’s rookie season, itself taking on the color of a classic Timberland boot. The colorway covers the toe and King-shaped stabilization side panels in soft nubuck, with reinforced wheat tan mesh covering the rest of the upper and a gum sole underfoot.

Coinciding with LeBron’s early career jersey number and what will likely be one of the last years of his career, the Nike LeBron 23 has been rolled out with 23 colorways paying homage to his legacy and career, including draft day, titles, activism, his relationship with his son, and more. This time around, the wheat colorway pays tribute to the King’s first MVP from 2009 with crown graphics in the mesh and an MVP logo on the heel.
