It’s been nearly two decades since the Seattle SuperSonics drafted Kevin Durant, and throughout Durant’s signature sneaker series with Nike, he’s nodded to the franchise that gave him his start in the NBA. While not necessarily a Sonics-themed color scheme, the Nike KD 18 Rain City directly calls out the date the now-defunct franchise drafted KD.
A fitting tribute to the city of Seattle, which has earned the nickname Rain City due to its climate and weather patterns, the pair comes coated in black hues with rain droplets added to the Air Terra Humara-inspired midfoot cage. Outside of this, we see the usual mesh base and synthetic overlays take on black shades. Contrasting the primarily dark build are golden hues on the edge of the aforementioned midfoot cage, the outline of the Swoosh on the collar, and the stitching details on the black lace set.

Inside is where we see a direct nod to the day of the NBA Draft in 2007, 6/28/07, which is embroidered in gold on the reverse of the tongue. More raindrop motifs are applied to the golden insole containing more KD logos. Finishing the design is the black rubber midsole featuring Zoom Air cushioning and a tonal rubber outsole.
The Nike KD 18 Rain City will release July 22, 2025, through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $155.
