Nike has always segmented its basketball program into two sections: the signature series shoes and the inline performance series. But just because an NBA or WNBA superstar doesn’t market a shoe doesn’t mean it's inferior, and at Nike, the Greater Than line has become a staple from playgrounds to professional parquet. Three different models have defined the line since its inception: the GT Cut, GT Hustle, and GT Jump, with the clear frontrunner for fan favorite being the GT Cut. After WNBA star Paige Bueckers debuted the next iteration of the GT Cut, the GT Cut 4, at WNBA All-Star, Nike has officially unveiled the sneaker and dropped a release window.
The Nike GT Cut 4 brings an all-new look to the line, modernizing the low-top basketball shoe for the game’s evolving versatility. A streamlined look with a series of vents, or gills running along the side panel, the shoe is minimal in design, but heavy in technology. This includes a 3D-molded collar, a molded vamp tongue, an exoskeleton-casted containment upper, and only four lace loops. We first saw the metallic blue debut colorway on Paige Bueckers' feet at the WNBA All-Star game, but the new release announcement lets us in on the tech underfoot, with a split, wavy midsole housing ZoomX and Air Zoom Strobel technology.
“The GT Cut 4 pushes the game forward and is built to match the feel, speed, and creativity of today’s athletes,” says Ross Klein, VP, Creative Director, Nike Basketball. “We took what players loved from past GT Cut models and evolved it with new technologies and deeper insights from players around the world, creating a shoe made for the future of basketball and the hoopers shaping the game.”
The Nike GT Cut 4 will be released in the Preheat colorway in January 2026 through Nike and select retailers in-store and online. Available in unisex sizing, the retail price is still $210. For all the latest Nike innovation news and drop info, download the Sole Retriever mobile app.
