Some of our favorite sneakers are inspired by food. From bacon and lobster to ice cream, chicken & waffles, and burgers, the culinary arts have always made a perfect theme for curated colorways. As you might have noticed with our examples, though, Michelin star sneakers aren’t always giving off the healthiest vibes. That’s changing now, thanks to 10-year-old aspiring chef and T-cell lymphoma patient at the Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, Oli Fasone-Lancaster.
A newly minted sneaker designer through the 21st annual Doernbecher Freestyle Program, Fasone-Lancaster cooked up an Air Force 1 Low dedicated to his love for food, complete with a mini set of cutlery. The Doernbecher x Nike Air Force 1 Low Oli Fasone-Lancaster starts with a clean base of cream leather on the upper and a brown gum sole underfoot. The side panel Swooshes and heel panel are embossed with olive branch designs, the midsole features graphics of vegetables mingling across both sides, and the outsoles feature a rainbow: one of Oli’s favorite things to draw.
In addition to the olive branch embossing, the side panel Swoosh features three small openings designed to fit a custom built silver knife, fork, and spoon. While most Doernbecher designers only get to add their inspiration to one pair of shoes, Oli had a rare opportunity to team up with Chipotle for an ultra-limited second Air Force 1 Low, this time detailing his favorite go-to burrito bowl order; his first stop after hospital treatments.
The Doernbecher x Nike Air Force 1 Low Oli Fasone-Lancaster will be released Spring 2026 through Nike and select retailers in-store and online. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $165. For all the latest Doernbecher x Nike news and drop info, download the Sole Retriever mobile app.
