Doernbecher Patient Oli Fasone-Lancaster Makes a Chipotle Nike Air Force 1

For more than 20 years now, Nike has partnered with the Oregon Health & Science University for the Doernbecher program, giving pediatric patients at the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital the opportunity to design their own Nike sneakers. These are then released to the public, with the resulting profits going back to the hospital. For Oli Fasone-Lancaster, the opportunity was the perfect canvas for him to express his love for food, creating the YES CHEF Air Force 1 as part of this year’s Doernbecher collection. Now, Nike is back with help from another brand to gift Oli his own pair of 1-of-2 exclusive Forces.

Oli has been undergoing cancer treatment since he was in kindergarten, and after every round of treatment, he celebrated the fight with a stop at Chipotle. To celebrate his participation in the Doernbecher program and his relentless effort in his war against cancer, Nike teamed up with Chipotle for an Oli-exclusive Chipotle Air Force 1 customized to his exact order.

The Chipotle x Doernbecher x Nike Air Force 1 Low Oli Fasone-Lancaster is full of co-branding and personalized touches, starting with a white upper on the toebox and side panels, the toe, lace panel, and heel are done in metallic silver like a foil base of the burrito bowl. The Swoosh is done in green to represent guacamole, which Oli adds to every order, and the Chipotle tongue label includes Oli’s exact order on the underside. The heel tab features a Sharpie-style graphic with “Oli’s Order #572” written across it to represent the number of laps Oli walked around the USHU oncology impatient unit, which actually equals the length of a marathon. Chipotle’s iconic word graphic found on its brown paper bags and napkins is found on the insole. The shoe is completed with a napkin-brown outsole with “Chipotle Is My Life” written across the entire bottom of the shoe.

The Chipotle x Doernbecher x Nike Air Force 1 Low Oli Fasone-Lancaster will not be released to the public, and was made exclusively for Oli, with the second pair sold at auction.
