Nike has been on the cutting edge of sneaker technology for half a century now, but the team in Oregon also knows sometimes less is more. One of The Swoosh’s most famous minimalist designs, adding translucent panels to create see-through shoes, has been one of the industry’s most sought-after and frequently bootlegged styles in sneaker history. The original see-through Air Force 1 is getting a sequel this year, and now Nike is following that up with a translucent Dunk.
The forthcoming Nike Dunk Low Black Pink Rise, first posted by retailer Asphalt Gold, starts with premium pebbled leather in black on the toe panel, heel panel, and Swoosh, creating a stark contrast to the translucent panels on the toebox and side panels. Instead of the traditional see-through panels we’ve seen on past Nikes, these have a pink tint, adding a bit of color to the shoe regardless of the color of the socks that slip inside. Just like the recent see-through Air Force One, the Dunk comes with a blinged-out Nike lace dubrae and an icy blue outsole.
