For years, Deion Sanders swore that he would never rock Nike products again. Well… something changed in 2023 shortly after Coach Prime began his tenure at the University of Colorado, when he announced that his deal with Nike was back on. Fast forward two years, and we’ve been blessed with retro releases of his various signature sneakers, like the DT Max ‘96 and Diamond Turf. While we know that the Diamond Turf 2 is returning next year, Sole Retriever can report that the DT Max ‘96 will be converted into a low-top sneaker in 2026.
As of this writing, there are no images of the low-top DT Max ‘96, but we know one of the first colorways to hit shelves will be black, metallic gold, and white. This paints a pretty clear picture as to the sneaker's Colorado Buffaloes inspiration. Other black, gold, and white DT Maxes that hit shelves in 2024 all took inspiration from the Buffs team colors, like the Colorado Home, Colorado Away, and White Vegas Gold. The low-top conversion should retain the signature scratch design on the upper, but the tooling below will go untouched.
The Nike Air DT Max ‘96 Low Black Metallic Gold will be released Summer 2026 through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $170.
