Nike SB is at its best when it is telling stories through sneakers. From collabs and partnerships with local skateshops to global brands like Jarritos, and most importantly, unsanctioned interpretations like Jedi and Oompa Loompa Dunks, SB Dunks cemented sneaker culture in the public imagination with unexpected, out-of-the-box storytelling. For 2026, we’re already seeing some of that inspiration come back, with Note Skateshop bringing tea and biscuit culture to the shoes, a public transportation-inspired Muni pack, and now, a Thai food Dunk that reimagines the classic silhouette as a bulk bag of rice.
Popping up in leaked photos, the Thai-inspired SB Dunk has been dubbed the Thai Food Dunk or the Som Tum Dunk, thanks to the image of a Thai papaya salad behind the right tongue. To us, though, the shoe feels closer tied to the graphic behind the left tongue: a steamed bowl of rice. The upper of the shoe is done in varying shades of woven tan and light brown with red accents on the stitching and laces, just like the bulk bags of rice used throughout the globe, where the red string at the top is unstrung to open the bag.

The rice bag graphics continue to the insoles, with a lotus flower and “Nike SB No. 1 Extra Fancy Medium Grain” logo inspired by rice bag branding. On the heel tabs of the shoe, Nike is written in Thai on silver paneling, with some social media commenters suggesting the silver panel is a reference to a traditional Thai rice bowl, and others guessing it relates to drinking cups found in Thai temples. As we get more info about the shoes, we’ll continue to keep you posted about any official inspiration notes.
The Nike SB Dunk Low Thai Food will be released Summer 2026 through Nike and select Nike SB retailers, in-store and online. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $130. For all the latest Nike SB news and drop info, download the Sole Retriever mobile app.
