The meaning of the word muni changes depending on where you live. It might be your local water or streets department, for skaters in Philly, Muni is the name of the downtown plaza full of ledges and granite tiles, for Cleveland sports fans, it’s the name of the old Browns stadium, and for San Francisco residents, it's the name of the local subway. Paying tribute to the now-defunct monthly Muni Fast Pass, Nike SB is dropping a new pack of two-tone Dunks designs after the split-colored swipe cards.
We saw the first preview from the pack in May, before we knew the story behind the shoes. Now, that green and yellow pair is followed by new pictures of a similarly split brown and orange colorway. Foregoing traditional panel-based color blocking, the Muni Fast Pass Pack shoes split the shoe directly in half, with the front half in brown suede and the back half in orange, split with a straight line down the middle of the side panel. The split colors represent the two sides of the Muni card, and the silver metallic Swoosh represents the middle strip of reflective material on the transit pass. We haven’t seen clear photos inside the shoe, but from what we can see, it looks like the label inside the tongue features an SB logo in Muni’s famous wavy font.
