New Balance’s fusion of traditional dress wear and its ever-popular 1906R, the 1906L Loafer, has become one of the brand’s hottest designs. Each pair that releases sells out quickly; with this success, NB has prepped an array of new colorways for 2025. A new Tan variant has emerged after looking at the upcoming Khaki pair.
Open-spaced mesh and leather paneling wrap around the low-cut loafer design, with the paneling from the standard 1906R remaining untouched. This includes the tan leather on the mudguard and midfoot and the cream lattice TPU heel counter. Of course, with the loafer design, the model forgoes laces and adds a leather strip across the forefoot.

Branding for NB has also been redone to fit the loafer's aesthetic. We no longer see the N logo on the midfoot. Instead, the toebox comes with a mini N logo. However, the 1906 stamp, here reading "1906L," is stamped on the lateral heel. Underfoot sits a tonal tan and cream 1906R midsole featuring ABZORB SBS pods in the heel and a full-length foam construction.
The New Balance 1906L Tan will release in Fall 2025 through New Balance and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is $160.
