The 990 has been a staple of New Balance’s lineup since it debuted in 1982. Now on its 6th, going on 7th version, the silhouette is one of, if not the most iconic and recognizable models in the Boston-based brand’s archive. Ahead of the 990v7’s upcoming debut, though, New Balance is doubling down on another 990 favorite, ramping up the v4’s retro revival.
The New Balance 990v4 Made in USA Monarch Burgundy is the third and final pair of v4s featured in Teddy Santis’ New Balance Made in USA Fall/Winter 2026 catalog. The collection kicked off with a violet pair in shaggy suede, and now, the Monarch Burgundy and a matching NB Navy colorway are set to drop next week.

Featuring a base coat of Monarch Burgundy red across the suede and mesh upper, the support panels stretching across the toebox and behind the side panels switch to a perforated dark brown. The “N” logo adds more brown to match the midsole for a classy two-tone look with perfect vibes for falling leaves and apple picking.
The New Balance 990v4 Made in USA Monarch Burgundy will be released September 24, 2026, through New Balance and select retailers in-store and online. Available in unisex sizing, the retail price is set at $195. For all the latest New Balance Made in USA news and drop info, download the Sole Retriever App.
