In Mexico and Mexican culture, Dia de los Muertos is an annual harvest season celebration of the deceased, with its own sweet treats, family meals, and fun. And like so many holidays, sneaker brands across the industry have been celebrating Dia de los Muertos with new colorways every October.

This year, the Autumn vibes are kicking off with an Air Jordan 1 Mid SE Dia de los Muertos colorway that combines colors, graphics, and textures from iconic Mexican pastries. Mixing up the textures of Pan de Muerto, conchas, and other cookies and cakes, the pair adds the Spanish translation of “In this family, no one flies alone” on the backside of the tongue tag.
Starting with pink speckled leather on the toe, lace, and heel panels, the toebox and side panels switch to the crackled brown leather that looks like it came fresh out of the oven, while the ankle collar adds a suede concha pattern. A woven texture in pale pink pops on the tongue, and a custom holiday-friendly tag completes the look.
