Shai Gilgeous-Alexander knows fashion. The OKC Thunder MVP is also one of the league’s tunnel fit MVPs, and his first Converse signature sneaker, the Shai 001, fits seamlessly with his designer obsession. The sleek, one-piece upper with a zip closure is made to look like different shoes when open or closed, and following high-fashion’s dedication to simplicity, the simple monochrome colorways have inspired a series of quick sell-outs for every drop.
Keeping the tonal focus, the latest Converse Shai 001 is a two-tone Iron Grey mix akin to his Ares Grey colorway, with different shades of steely iron grey shifting slightly with the change in material from the one-piece upper to the puffed-up winged overlays on the side panels and the heel padding. Shai’s double 2 logo is added to the tongue in grey embroidery for the only bit of branding on the incognito pair.
Debuting to strong reviews in a Timberland-inspired Butter tan colorway, Shai and the Thunder started the season on fire with the best record since the 73-9 Warriors as Shai continued to debut new monochrome colorways of the Shai 001 inspired by his wife, mother, and brother. Now, after a bright red holiday pair and triple-white pair coincided with a slight downturn in the Thunder’s historic run, the Iron Grey pair arrives in time to get OKC back on track.
The Converse Shai 001 Iron Grey will be released January 22, 2026 through Converse and select retailers in-store and online. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $150. For all the latest Converse SGA news and drop info, download the Sole Retriever mobile app.
