The sneaker scene in Australia is surprisingly deep, with several prolific collaborators, retailers, and even a raffle system (EQL) hailing from Down Under. Arguably the most well-known boutique in the country is UP THERE, which became a household name in sneakers thanks to its New Balance 2002R Backyard Legends collab. They not only have a prolific history with the Boston-based brand, but also another Asian-Pacific label in Asics. Following the duo’s two-pack of Gel-Kayano 12.1 colorways last year, UP THERE and Asics have been teasing a Gel-Kayano 20 project. Now, we finally get to see it.
UP THERE x Asics Gel-Kayano 20 Details
UP THERE’s signature palette of green is present all over the boutique’s Kayano 20 project, though we haven’t heard a full explanation on exactly what inspires this colorway just yet. A diamond-mesh base in dark green rests below the neon yellow hits on the support structure and the lining of the grey-and-silver Asics tiger stripe. This same combo continues onto the tongue, with the tongue itself using the diamond mesh and the laces coming in highlighter shades. Moving to the medial side, the tiger stripe logo gets a gradient finish that turns white as you move back toward the heel counter.
Branding details for UP THERE are non-existent in the image set provided by sneaker photographer Tyler Mansour, with the Gel-Kayano 20 logos and Asics staying traditional. This includes Gel-Kayano 20 written near the lateral collar, Asics logos on the tongue, and references to the Kayano’s 20th birthday on the medial white toecap. Finishing the shoe is the white and neon green midsole with Gel pods throughout and a black, white, and translucent outsole.

The UP THERE x Asics Gel-Kayano 20 will be released on August 20, 2026 via UP THERE online and in-store for $197. The online release will take place at 6 PM AEST, which is 4 AM EDT on August 21. No word on whether or not the pair gets a wider drop via Asics and other retailers.
