While many sneakerheads have had their eyes on the multitude of mesh runners offered by Asics, the Gel-Kayano 14 has remained one of the top priorities in the community. However, we saw Asics test the waters with the revival of the Gel-Kayano 20 through collaborative efforts with Bodega, HAL Studios, Kiko Kostadinov, and doublet. After a preview of a GR Cream Blue colorway emerged in October last year, we’re getting new GR colors of the Gel-Kayano 20.
Kicking off the year will be this Blue Neptune rendition, which sees the once-performance runner covered in a tonal blue shade reminiscent of the eighth planet from the sun. This hue covers the mesh base and various leather panels on the upper, including the mudguard, toebox overlays, eyelets, and the black and purple tiger stripes lining the midfoot. More purple lines are used for the rest of the overlays on the upper, with the shade also helping form the “20th Anniversary for Gel-Kayano” text on the medial toe.
