Boston-based retailer Bodega marked the 10th anniversary of its partnership with Asics in September with a Gel-Kayano 20 collaboration. While we’ve been awaiting word on what a follow-up project from the duo will entail, it seems the wait is nearly over as Bodega’s Bodega Made Instagram account, which focuses on in-house and collaborative releases from the retailer, has teased a Bodega x Asics release set for December 27.
In the initial teaser image, the two caricatures can be seen wearing Gel-Kayano 20s based on the gel inserts in the sole unit, a clear nod to the model being offered here for this friends-and-family drop. The pair retains the same material construction and added branding details as the original pair but incorporates a darker earth-tone aesthetic. We can see the woven mesh base remain, this time in a brown shade, while the overlays across the upper also take on darker finishes.
Bodega branding is located on the lateral collar just below the Jel-Kayano 20 text, the latter contrasting the earth tones with a blue finish. More pops of color come placed along the lace set and sockliner, retaining the OG's volt green look here. Underfoot, the midsole gets a darker makeover with jade-green Gel inserts throughout.
The Bodega x Asics Gel-Kayano 20 Friends & Family will release December 27, 2024, exclusively via Bodega online and in-store. Available in men's sizing, the retial price is set at $180.
