If you give a Philadelphian a two-wheeled vehicle - bicycle, dirt bike, motorcycle, etc - they’re gonna wheelie it. The city known for cheesesteaks and violent sports fans has also been ground zero for the Y2K revival mesh runner revival, and Asics Sportstyle in particular. To celebrate 10 years in business, Philly sneaker boutique Lapstone & Hammer is dropping an exclusive pair of Asics Gel-1130, and they tapped some of the city’s most talented bike riders to show them off.
Lapstone & Hammer x Asics Gel-1130 10 Year
The Lapstone & Hammer x Asics Gel-1130 is a classic mesh trainer in white with silver, black, and gold hits on the logo and support panels. The mesh upper of the shoe is all done in white, while the toe panels are silver. Gold is found on the all-encompassing side panel logo and heel swoop, with more metallic silver accents on the heel support panels. Finally, black leather patches surround the top and bottom eyelets to round out the shoe.
“The GEL-1130 is an extremely important silhouette for us, as it’s not only one of our best-selling ASICS models, but also one of our best-selling styles from any brand over the past two years,” Lapstone founder Brian Nadav said. “It’s the perfect choice to represent Lapstone’s ten years of success and evolution.”
In an editorial campaign created for the shoe, the Lapstone team hit up Philly’s One Way bike crew to model the sneaker with their bikes, adding as much Philly culture as possible to the release. In addition to the Asics drop, Lapstone tapped Philly-based clothing brands Mitchell & Ness and Icarus for a limited 10-year clothing capsule.
The Lapstone & Hammer x Asics Gel-1130 will be released September 20, 2025, exclusively through Lapstone & Hammer in-store and online. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $100.
