When you’re using a kitchen scale to weigh grams, you typically don’t want to be shorted. At adidas, the goal was always to hit the lowest number possible. And with marathon season upon us, The Three Stripes has finally hit its ultimate goal, dropping the weight in a performance running shoe to two digits, breaking the sub-100 gram mark.
The adidas Adizero Adios Pro Evo 3 is a marvel of running technology that is best described in numbers. Beyond the 97 gram total weight, adidas notes that the third iteration of its $500 raceday shoe is “30% lighter, delivers 11% greater forefoot energy return, and improves running economy by 1.6% compared to its predecessor.” In other words, get ready to set some new PRs.
“Creating the Adizero Adios Pro Evo 3 pushed us to think differently from the very start,” Patrick Nava, GM Running at adidas said. “We weren’t just trying to improve on what we’d done before, we wanted to see how far we could go. We went through more than a dozen iterations, working closely with our athletes and testing everywhere from our labs in Herzogenaurach to high-altitude camps in Kenya and Ethiopia. At that level, every detail really matters – we were measuring things down to the nearest nanogram. It was a long process, but it’s led to something we believe genuinely changes what a race-day shoe can feel like.”
Arriving in a debut white and black colorway, the breakthrough tech in the new model is adidas’ ENERGYRIM technology that reimagines the mingling of carbon and foam for a lighter silhouette that adds even more energy return.
The adidas Adizero Adios Pro Evo 3 will be released April 27, 2026 through adidas and select specialty running shops in-store and online. A restock via DSG took place on May 25, with a wider release via adidas and select retailers like Fleet Feet set for October 29. Available in unisex sizing, the retail price is set at $500.
