German sportswear giant adidas is paying homage to four great European soccer clubs with their latest Terrace Icons Collection. This four-shoe pack includes Juventus FC, Arsenal FC, Real Madrid C.F., and Manchester United. adidas highlights the 1980s with a terrace classic, the Gazelle, as the ideal sneaker to convey such historic prestige. First designed and released in the 1960s, the Gazelle is one of the best-selling adidas models, currently experiencing a zenith in popularity.
During the 1980s, Manchester United was far from the behemoth of a club they are today. While undoubtedly successful in the 1950s and 1960s, they had no success during the 70s, while the 80s brought two FA Cups and a FA Charity Shield back to the Old Trafford trophy cabinet. Now recognized as one of the biggest sports teams on the globe thanks to Sir Alex Ferguson and his mercurial run with world-class teams in the 90s and 00s, which saw the club win 13 Premier League titles and two UEFA Champions League triumphs, they are a perfect business partner for adidas on and off the pitch.
This pair, dedicated to the club, arrives with cream white suede forming the upper base. An off white hue envelopes the collar lining, tongue, and lace set in a subtle contrast. A more vibrant contrast is seen with the MUFC red that encapsulates the back heel tab and Three Stripes branding, with the bright color extending to the Trefoil logo on the tongue.
Manchester United sits proudly along the midfoot, parallel to the stripes on the sides, finished in gold foil. The serrated edges of the stripes are completed in core black, as is the devil crest on the heel tabs and custom graphics on the insoles. A gum-colored rubber outsole rounds off the aesthetic.
The Manchester United x adidas Gazelle Terrace is set to release on February 12, 2025, via adidas and select retailers online and in-store. Available in unisex sizing, retail is $110. He will forever profess that Cricket is better than Baseball and that Rugby League is better then Rugby Union. Among his many hot takes, he believes the adidas ZX range is the pinnacle of sneaker design.
