When we first laid eyes on the GT Future, it immediately brought us all back to the golden age of Nike Basketball, where forward-thinking design language translated to crazy looks for both on and off-court wear. And who better to debut the sneaker than DMV native and rapper Wale? Well… if you’re talking on-court action, having top-prospect AJ Dybansta balling out each night in the sneaker is great for the model. But when it comes to off-the-court styling, Wale is unmatched. Since the initial sighting in February, the rapper has been consistently spotted in new versions of the sneaker, but it turns out one of the first pairs he previewed is actually his very own colorway.
Coating most of the molded upper is a gradient blue, which transitions from valor blue to pacific blue as you move toward the sole unit. Striations that clearly reference the Nike Hyperflight wrap around the sneaker and give it depth, while the attached Swoosh on the lateral and medial sides is rendered in an iridescent color-changing finish.

Internally, the bootie construction comes in black, matching the lace set, tongue, and piping of the outer shell. Final details on the upper include perforations on the medial side for breathability and a vertical Swoosh on the tongue. Down below sits a Cushlon 3.0 and Zoom Strobel-cushioned sole unit that is finished in black.
Wale’s connection to Nike goes back nearly 20 years. Nike Basketball gifted the DMV star an early pair of the Eggplant Air Foamposite One, which he subsequently debuted in a print ad (remember those?) for streetwear brand LRG. Alongside his association with the Nike Foamposite and other models close to it, Wale also made his love for the Nike Boot, aka the Air Max Goadome, apparent with his song “Nike Boots.”
The rapper finally got his flowers, quite literally, from The Swoosh when he was tapped to help promote the Cherry Blossom-themed Foamposite in 2024. He also had his first official collab with Nike on a friends and family colorway of the Air Max Goadome to celebrate the release of his new album everything is a lot, making this GT Future the first publicly available Wale x Nike collab.
The Wale x Nike GT Future will be released on December 13, 2025 through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $200.
