What began as an illegal street racing and crime drama turned into a jet-setting, space-bound, and (Vin Diesel voice) family-centered franchise that spans 11 films, an animated series, and four upcoming live-action TV shows. Of course, we’re talking about The Fast and the Furious. You may have checked out once the death-defying stunts left the atmosphere and The Rock inserted himself into the universe, but the original still holds up 25 years later. If you weren’t lucky enough to catch it on the big screen back in 2001, you’re in luck because The Fast and the Furious is returning to theaters later this month.
The Fast and the Furious Re-Release Date
Universal Pictures is set to re-release The Fast and the Furious in theaters across the US starting August 21, 2026. Like most film runs in the theaters in the last few years, you won’t have long to catch it at your local multiplex, as it’s only available for seven days. To commemorate the re-release, a new trailer for the film has been released.
The Fast and the Furious Popcorn Bucket & Collectibles

Back when The Fast and the Furious first hit theaters, collectible and frankly absurd popcorn “buckets” weren’t a thing yet. But today, if your film comes out and it doesn’t have a wacky tie-in popcorn bucket collectible, you’re missing out. For the re-release of the OG film, there are three items, including two popcorn buckets and a soda cup.
One bucket is a recreation of Dom’s iconic black Dodge Charger, while another is a tin that features license plates, including the plate used by Brian O’Conner (played by the late Paul Walker) on his ‘95 Toyota Supra. Finally, there's a NOS canister tumbler, which thankfully doesn’t contain any nitrous oxide.
