If you see SZA outside in Paris this week, she’ll most likely be wearing a pair of custom Vans that you cannot buy. The TDE-signed singer/songwriter signed a deal last summer to take on the role of Artistic Director at the SoCal skate shoe brand, and this week, she’s putting her job title to work, breaking out 5 pairs of 1-of-1 custom bejeweled Vans designed on classic silhouettes; one for each day of Paris Fashion Week.
Kicking things off with a pair of Authentics dubbed the Ladybug Gardens, SZA was seen in the white canvas vans covered in bug-shaped jewels at the Louis Vuitton runway show, adding custom “VANSZA” lace dubraes in gold and pink. SZA’s Paris footwear journey continues with another pair of Authentics in Navy with gold and brown jewels on one toebox and blue jewels on the other, and three pairs of bejeweled Old Skool 36s, each with toe boxes covered in custom jewelry.
To make the 1-of-1 colorways, Vans tapped NYC-based jewelry designer Rachel Goatley, a self-taught artist and Creative Partner at Greg Yuna New York. Meeting Paris Fashion Week’s high bar and SZA’s level of jewelry, Goatley broke out the big guns, adding diamonds, opals, emeralds, pink sapphires, and more to the custom collection.
These pairs were made specifically for SZA to show off during Paris Fashion Week, but after more beaded Vans dropped in late 2025 at Art Basel, it’s clear that Vans is having a fully decorated moment at every level. For all the latest Vans news, download the Sole Retriever mobile app.
