Clemson University is off to a slow start two games into the new college football season after kicking things off with a 1-3 record. But after a breakout year in 2024, Clemson star wide-out Antonio Williams isn’t getting any of the blame for the team’s hiccups. Williams was injured in week 1 and only returned in Clemson’s last game against Syracuse in late September before getting more recovery time on a bye week. Now, ready to pick up where he left off last season, Williams returns at full strength with a new high-profile NIL deal.

Nike and Williams announced the new partnership in an Instagram post with the caption “Can’t Cover Zero,” with a photo of Williams in action making a leaping catch, and his Clemson #0 jersey flashing the camera. The specifics of the deal weren’t announced, but Clemson is a Nike school so expect to see Williams in some team-friendly PEs as the season goes on.

Since the rules changed to allow brand sponsorships for high school and college athletes, the Swoosh has made youth a prime focus of its sports program from the basketball court to the gridiron. In addition to Williams, Nike started the college football season with announcements of NIL signings for Penn State quarterback Drew Allar and Baylor QB Sawyer Robertson.

As the college football season gets into full swing, Nike is likely to announce even more new NIL signings to round out its roster of campus superstars. With Clemson squaring off against UNC this weekend, we’ll definitely have our eyes on the cleats of Williams and the rest of the Nike and Jordan-clad teams.
