If you’re an outdoor enthusiast, you’re going to be happy to hear that Nike ACG is finally returning to its roots and innovating in the trail space. The label kind of fell to the wayside and leaned into the gorpcore trend for non-utilitarian purposes, but ACG has been realigned to focus on providing outdoor-ready equipment. While we’re still waiting on the Ultrafly, it’s new “super shoe” for trail running, the label has unveiled its new Lava Loft Down Jacket that’s got some insane stats.

Many outdoor jackets, especially down fill, come at the expense of being heavyweight. Not really ideal if you’re trail running or going on expeditions. Nike’s Lava Loft Down Jacket is only 10 ounces, but with a 700-fill for a lightweight experience that is also great at retaining heat. It is also breathable, so if you do end up rocking it in a warmer environment, you won’t be drenched in sweat.

Nike achieved this through a data-driven combo of ExpeDRY™ Gold and its own AeroLoft venting. Hundreds of hours of testing went into the creation of the jacket, allowing Nike to dial in the precise placement of AeroLoft perforations for breathability and warmth. The outer layer of the jacket is constructed with a combo of Dri-Fit, Repel four-sway stretch, Ultra UV, and DWR hydrophobic recycled baffle materials.

All this technical jargon is great, but the biggest thing here is its portability. When you don’t need your jacket anymore, it’s taking up unnecessary space. Nike solved this problem, so you can pack the jacket down to fit into the palm of your hand. Sewn into the pocket is the phrase “Pack it in. Pack it out,” not only as a nod to the feature, but to remind the wearer of the wilderness stewardship Nike ACG and its athletes hold close.

The Nike ACG Lava Loft Down Jacket will be released on New Year’s Day 2026 (January 1) through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Retail is set at $295.
