Marvel Rivals Arrive as Image Variations in 2026 Topps Neon

Short-printed Image Variation cards are coming to 2026 Topps Neon Marvel in the form of Marvel Rivals art. The popular free-to-play third-person shooter has engaged players since their record-breaking launch in 2024, thanks to the game’s easy-to-learn systems and frequent character skin drops that have inspired a lot of commentary online and daring cosplay offline. A quick Google Image search will give you an idea of how much the game has resonated with the cosplay community.

What are Image Variation Cards?

Image Variations are cards that use the same numbering and backing as the regular base cards but feature different pictures or alternate art on the front. Print runs for Topps Image Variations vary from extremely short-printed to slightly less than the regular base card. The early use of Image Variations by Topps was an unannounced surprise for collectors who might not even know they had an alternate card if they did not have the regular version to compare. In 2007 Topps Baseball, one of the brand’s first Image Variations was a Derek Jeter card that included then-President George W. Bush and Mickey Mantle in the background.

Later Image Variations would include Topps Chrome F1 cards that featured Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen in different poses from their base card images and Topps Chrome Update Basketball cards of LeBron James and Cooper Flagg from their Media Day photoshoots. Unlike the Jeter card, the modern Image Variations carry premiums over their base counterparts because their print runs are significantly smaller.

What is 2026 Topps Neon Marvel?

Introduced in 2025 through Topps Neon Disney, the Neon brand is Topps' affordable alternative to their more high-concept and high-priced products like Chrome and Vault that include autographs and movie props used by actors in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While 2026 Topps Neon Marvel will include Chrome parallels and autographs from artists and voice actors from the Disney+ animated series Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, the product’s focus is on delivering value at a lesser price. They will release on October 14.

Which Characters Will Include Marvel Rivals Image Variations?

Preview images include Thor in his Herald of Thunder skin, Emma Frost wearing her Golden Diamond suit, Captain America suited up with Star Spangled Style, and Jeff the Land Shark looking slightly different with his grey Adopted Avenger look. This is the first time that Marvel Rivals will be featured in an American trading card product following their official debut in various sets for the Chinese trading card company Kakawow. The Frost one-of-one Foilfractor, along with the other serial-numbered cards in the preview images, confirms that the Image Variations will have their own slate of parallels just like the regular base set.
