Tokyo Clothing Brand Liberaiders Teams Up with Asics for Gel-Kayano 12.1 Collab

Asics is a global phenomenon in the sneaker scene, with loyal fans from Philly to London and everywhere in between. But when it comes to the brand’s home country of Japan, the Asics love hits a little harder, and the collabs feel a little more special. For its latest intracountry connection, Asics is linking up with Tokyo-based clothing company Liberaiders for a black and blue Gel-Kayano 12.1.

The Liberaiders x Asics Gel-Kayano 12.1 features a blend of black suede and mesh across the toebox and side panels for a classic retro runner feel. White hits across the side panel create a bit of contrast, and deep ocean blue on the tongue branding, logo-clad heel supports, and sock liner add some color. The laces and heel panel both feature 3M reflective details, and the white midsole is speckled with black paint to complete the look.

This is the first collaboration between Liberaiders and Asics, but continues a strong year of partnerships for Asics across the globe. From more Japanese-based collabs with brands like atmos to athlete-designed colorways from Stefon Diggs and fashion partnerships with 18 East, Hidden NY, and more, Asics has been crushing it all 2025.
