Kevin Durant may be on his 18th signature sneaker with Nike, but when it comes to his personal favorite, the Houston Rockets star is going back to basics. In a recent appearance on teammate Fred VanVleet's Unguarded podcast—part of Durant's Boardroom media network—KD opened up about his favorite signature sneaker throughout the years.

"Realistically, I'm gonna go the six," Durant revealed. "But most people who buy my shoes, they love KD 4." Durant didn't stop there, offering even more insight into what he considers the golden era of his signature line: "From 4 to 8, I think it was like my most underrated, like my best run of shoes."

The Nike KD 6: A Look Back

The Nike KD 6 first hit shelves in June 2013 with the "D.C. Preheat" colorway—a tribute to Durant's hometown roots.

Designed by Nike's Leo Chang, the KD 6 marked a notable departure from its predecessor with a low-top silhouette that emphasized speed and versatility. At the 2013 unveiling at Seat Pleasant Activity Center in Maryland (where he grew up), Durant described his vision for the shoe: "I want to feel as quick as a point guard, and I want to feel as firm as a center."

Durant wore the KD 6 throughout the 2013-14 NBA season—arguably the best of his career—culminating in his first (and only) MVP award. That year, he delivered his now-iconic "You the real MVP" speech while accepting the honor.
