The Chicago designer is tackling one of the hottest New Balance silhouettes.
While many credit Teddy Santis and ALD for bringing New Balance back to the forefront of sneaker culture, JoeFreshGoods collaborations over the years have made quite the impact. Now, he has been given the reins of his own campaign through the Boston-based brand entitled “Conversations Amongst Us.”
It’s more than just a sneaker and apparel collection, as said by New Balance “…The collaborative campaign will honor the Black community, not only during Black History Month, but throughout the year. Joe will spearhead the concept and inspiration, capturing the conversations amongst the Black community while simultaneously promoting new dialogue amongst people of all races.” With a New Balance 2002R already revealed, Joe took to Instagram to showcase his take on the brand's hottest silhouette, the New Balance 550.
Sticking with a color palette similar to the previously mentioned 2002R, cream shades dress the entire sneaker. Typical NB 550 cuts are present, though the materials are swapped from leather to a mix of canvas along the majority of overlays and underlays and suede on the heel tab and collar. Tonal stitching and laces throughout keep the silhouette in the realm of a vintage look, even as far as the branding seen on the midfoot and eyelet. While most JoeFreshGoods collabs heavily feature the designer's name on the silhouette, his “Conversations Amongst Us” look keeps things minimal with no mention of the man himself, instead the title of the campaign is prominently featured on the insole, heel, and tongue tag. Finishing off the look is the midsole and outsole both coming in a vintage cream.
The JoeFreshGoods x New Balance 550 Conversations Amongst Us is slated to release April 15th, 2022, through New Balance, JoeFreshGoods, and select retailers online and in-store. Releasing in men's sizing, the retail price is set at $120.
