Dime Turns it Up to 8 on New Vans Era Stub Silhouette

“Desire. Research. Drive. Insanity. Eight laces.”
That’s the theme of the new Dime x Vans Era Stub, a fresh reimagining of the classic low-top skate shoe. The Montreal-based skate-crew-turned-clothing-brand has a long-running partnership with Vans in design and general tomfoolery, and in their latest joint effort, they took the Era and made one simple, but radical design tweak: a shift from 5 lace loops to 8.
First seen in a hilarious advertisement put together by the Dime team, the Vans Era Stub takes the 1975 skate shoe and pushes the laces down, shortening the toebox for a stubbier, modern look. There’s nothing else new on the model, but the stubby toe and longer lace structure make the shoe look entirely different than the original. Sometimes it’s the small things, y’know? The Era, aka the #95, was the first Vans shoe designed for skaters by skaters, taking the canvas Authentic, bulking up the fabric, and adding extra padding around the ankle collar, immediately becoming a staple in the skate community.

Dime is one of the skate industry’s most prolific clothing brands, and the Canadian crew is no stranger to shoe collabs. They’ve dropped colorways with Reebok, New Balance, adidas, Asics, and even Merrell, but the brand’s partnership with Vans is more like family, including over a dozen collab colorways over the years and a presenting sponsorship of the annual Dime Glory Challenge, an invite-only skate contest bringing together 50 pro skaters to compete on absurd obstacles like constantly expanding oversized rails and on-board king of the hill sumo fights.
The Dime x Vans Era Stub is dropping in two monochrome colorways, white and yellow, and will be released August 30, 2025, exclusively through Dime on-site at the 2025 Glory Challenge in Montreal and through select Vans VCU skate shop accounts. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price hasn’t been announced yet.
